The Hidden Laws in the Teachings of Abraham

By Christina Ammerman

Abraham, Law of Attraction, Law of Polarity, spiritual laws

Do you know about the Spiritual Laws?

They’re one of my favorite topics; I’ve been studying them for almost ten years – ever since my dear friend Peggy first introduced me to the Teachings of Abraham. Life started making so much more sense (and working out for my benefit!) when I began to see the order and logic with which it operates.

As one of my readers you’re probably familiar with the Teachings of Abraham, LOA teachings offered by Esther Hicks and her late husband Jerry. (And if you’re not familiar with them, take this as your synchronistic cue to get familiar.)

Ask and It Is Given was my second introduction to the Law of Attraction, after watching “The Secret” several times when it first came out. Soon after that I attended one of their Law of Attraction workshops and then subscribed to their monthly CD series.

For a couple years I lived and breathed LOA; eventually my awareness expanded and I was introduced to other teachers and other laws. I’ve also taught about the Spiritual Laws. In fact, I’m about to start teaching them to the participants in my Money Mojo Mastery program.

Meanwhile, when I come back and listen to Abraham (which has been often, especially lately) I notice how many of those other laws are part of what Abraham teaches – even though they’re still thought of as the Law of Attraction teachers, and LOA is the only law that they mention.

I don’t question their motives at all; I trust Abraham to know what their audience needs to understand their teachings. I will say, though, that I have felt more in harmony with the Law of Attraction since learning about the other laws.

Are you curious what those other laws are? Here’s the breakdown:

  • Law of Vibration. This is law #1 that builds the foundation for all the other laws. It says that everything in this universe vibrates. Physical stuff, sound, light, feelings, thoughts – everything.
  • Law of Polarity. Have you ever heard Abraham talk about “looking at the wrong end of the stick”? That’s a reference to this law, which says that if something exists then so must its opposite. For example, if you’re experiencing the lack of something, then the presence of it must also exist. (Last month I wrote a whole article just on this law.) The stick analogy: A stick must have two ends; you can cut one end off and it will still have two ends. (And then, to Abraham’s point, you’re going to attract whichever end of the stick you focus on.)
  • Law of Sacrifice. I love this law almost as much as the Law of Polarity. It says that in order to receive something, you have to give up something else. The reason why I love it is because I know what we have to give up: Attention to anything that creates resistance or unhappiness. Complaints. Blame. Attachments to struggle. Entitlements. Waiting for permission to be happy or successful. Get the picture?

The next time you listen to Abraham, listen with new ears. What laws do you hear them talking about?

  1. Thank you Christina! Last time, your reminder about the Law of Polarity was a BIG “ah ha” for me – I’ve been focusing on the wrong end of the stick a LOT lately. With your help (in so many ways, including the work in the Money Mojo for Business program) I’m shifting my money “stuff”.

Now I see I need to weed through a bit more – figure our what I’ve been holding onto – what needs to be sacrificed in order to let in money and other things where I am experiencing the LACK side of the stick…

Breathing off the old encumbrances and breathing in new possibilities. Just today I was admiring the abundant growth of our bushes and trees and said “wouldn’t it be great if we could just go pick some money, like I could pick off leaves from the trees – there’s more than enough…” Yes, I would like to open up to it being that easy.
